Case Overview

A 65-year-old woman presented with:

  • Mild haematemesis (vomiting blood)

  • Epigastric pain

🔬 She was referred to Geetanjali Multispeciality Hospital, Wai for diagnostic evaluation and treatment.

Diagnosis: Bleeding Gastric Polyp Identified

OGDscopy (Upper GI Endoscopy) revealed:

  • A 1cm sessile gastric polyp

  • Active bleeding point identified on the polyp

🧪 A biopsy was taken to rule out malignancy.

📸 CT Abdomen confirmed absence of any neoplastic or infiltrative pathology.

🧾 Histopathology report confirmed the polyp to be benign.

Procedure: Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR)

The patient underwent EMR for complete polyp removal under sedation.

  • The polyp was successfully resected

  • Hemostatic clip applied to the defect site to prevent bleeding

  • Entire procedure was safe, smooth, and uneventful

💡 EMR avoids major surgery, lowers risk, and promotes rapid recovery.
